Christopher Johnson Appointed Vice President, Product Management of Volly™

February 7, 2012
Stamford, Connecticut-based Pitney Bowes Inc. announced the appointment of Christopher Johnson to the position of vice president, product management of the Volly™ secure digital delivery service.

Johnson joined Pitney Bowes after heading an independent digital media consulting company that focused on accelerating digital revenue growth for major brands. Previously, Johnson was senior vice president of programming and product strategy for UGO Entertainment, now a unit of News Corp. In this role, Johnson was responsible for product management, product design, editorial and consumer marketing for a digital advertising network that reached more than 40 million visitors a month.

Previously, Johnson held executive leadership roles in the digital space at Hearst Magazines, where he launched 16 consumer sites for iconic brands such as Esquire, Good Housekeeping and Cosmopolitan, and grew those sites to more than 20 million visitors each month. Johnson also developed partnerships with leading digital brands such as MSN, Yahoo, AOL and Google, and was responsible for social media strategy.

In addition, Johnson has served in management roles at IAC/InterActiveCorp, America Online and was a founding producer for The Washington Post’s award-winning website.

“Christopher Johnson is a great asset to the Volly family with a wealth of knowledge in both the digital space and consumer product management,” said Chuck Cordray, president of Volly. “His experience really complements the strategic direction in which we are moving as we prepare for launch and beyond.”

The Volly™ secure digital delivery service, unveiled in January 2011, is a new cloud-based digital mail communications platform that will empower consumers to receive, view, organize, and manage bills, statements, direct marketing, catalogs, coupons and other content from multiple providers using a single application. This opt-in, consumer-focused consolidation service also includes online bill payment services

“I am very excited to join Pitney Bowes to help shape the future of Volly,” commented Johnson. “It’s exciting to be part of a company that continues to innovate in a rapidly changing communications landscape. I believe Volly will provide highly useful services for consumers, and will help companies find valuable new ways to connect with their customers.”
